Dog foot injuries can happen for all sorts of reasons.

Paw are protected by spongy tissue covered by tough, leathery skin, somewhat like the texture of the nose but the nose is very sensitive and paws are their wide tracks.

Sometimes this causes a lot of wear-and-tear on those paws.

Little dogs who get little exercise in apartment/condo living can literally burn his feet on the pavement if he is not use to it.

It can cause redness, licking of paws and even blisters form on the pads if walked on hot pavement during the summer for an extended period.

In addition, paw pads contain lots of blood vessels. Even minor paw injuries can result in a lot of bleeding.

In winter time there is the problem of snow and ice where ever you go.

In New York they put so much salt on the roads and this isn’t good for any paw.

I suggest you wash your dog’s feet after you have walked him.

This way washing will get rid of the salt and keep the paw supple.

If they are cracked and bleeding. Rest the dog after applying antibiotic salve the vet can give you or even using Bag Balm.

This product is so good you should use it on your hands.

If you walk your dog daily and wash their feet afterwards, you can daily check out his paws and catch potential injuries that turn into infections.
